Since 2016, we have provided substantial investment in Aldi Play Rugby, a non-contact primary schools rugby programme which is a fun and safe way for students to be introduced to playing rugby. The programme aims to encourage school children to get active, take part in regular exercise and eat healthily.
We are proud to have the support of our Aldi Play Rugby ambassadors and Irish Rugby representatives, Paul O’Connell, Linda Djougang, James Ryan and Beibhinn Parsons.
Participation in the programme has seen an incredible increase of over 90% since the partnership began in 2016. This year has seen the highest engagement of any Aldi Play Rugby programme year to date with over 127,000 students from 678 primary schools across Ireland taking part.
